I have an old 1954 Whirlpool Supreme washing machine in my basement that needs a new home. The display lights up when plugged in, but that's about all I know about it. We've never attempted to use the old thing, and now need the space for a new sump pump. Asking $60 for it, but price is negotiable if you'll haul it away. You must have help and a good appliance dolly to haul it away. Call or email me if interested... Nick (5zero2)Four18-seven35zero or [email protected].

Hi Nick , Consider it sold!

First step of the Journey Home

I picked up this doll today ... and have her safely stored at my best friends house in Southern Indiana. I hope to bring her home to Michigan in Feburary. I will try and post some more pictures soon.

1954 WHIRLPOOL WASHER

Wow great find, I have not seen one of those in many years. This was the first WP model to have a raised control panel and lighted to boot [ small incandescent bulbs ]. Our neighbors across the street had the matching electric dryer for many years, I think that BTed has the the washer or dryer also.

I am currently in the process of restoring a TOL 1954 KM pair at our warehouse [ this model has the lighted colored push buttons for water temperatures and two water levels and the dryer has four buttons for drying temperatures ]. I have the Suds-saver washer and Gas dryer. The dryer is finished and the washer is about 1/2 done, I know these machines inside out if you have and questions or problems let me know. John.

2 more pics

I was able to download another pic >>> very exciting! Gotta Love that Hood ornament / lid release button! Can't wait to rewire and light that baby up!

1955 or1956

This washer is either a late '55 or a '56 model. RCA didn't sell its Estate appliance division to Whirlpool-Seeger Corp. until sometime in 1955. At that time they acquired the right to use the RCA trademark on appliances, which they did from that time until 1966.

WHIRLPOOL SUPREME WASHER

First RCA Whirlpool washer? good question, this washer was probably made in 1955 [ show us a picture of the main water pump, they changed in 1956 ]. The earlier version of this control panel had a lot of black on the glass part of the panel, those were introduced in 1954, not sure if they said RCA on that earlier model.

I think John is correct, this may be a 1956 model. I have the owners manual for my 56 Imperial, and now I remember the booklet show all models on the back cover. I will scan and post it tonight.

Whirlpool!

I think this maybe a 54 or 55 - does this have up to a 20 minute wash? I remember reading somewhere that 56 was when they went to a 14 minute max wash time.
Can we get a close up of the control panel as well as a interior shot?
Thanks much
Peter

Pete -

I am sure that Scott will post pictures when he can. We may have to wait for the washer to make it's way home all the way, as it is halfway home in a friend's garage in Indiana (Scott lives in Michigan). Be patient....

Cool washer! This is a model I've always hoped would show up as I've only seen the pictures of it in the service manual.

The washer in question is a 1956 model year Whirlpool. The first year for this panel was the '54 model year, with the 1955 model carrying the "Imperial" badge. In '56 they carried over the '55 panel with the badge of "Supreme". What is interesting is in 1957 they carried over the '56 Imperial panel but did not put the Supreme name on it.

There was also a 24 inch version of this washer as well in 1955.

First scan - the 1954 "Automatic" version.
