How fun - I guess the poor dears in the white uniforms were the guards for the machines, I wonder if they scolded those using too much detergent! Pay as you wash I would imagine, perhaps they wrote out tickets for the patrons.
We stopped at a laundromat in Minneapolis that had self-service pressing machines - a metered amount of time. There was a group of women using them that pressed everything, jeans, t-shirts, etc. It was fun to watch them using them - they knew what they were doing! I think Robert mentioned this 'mat, double-load Dexter washers, Bock extractors that shook the floor, it was heaven for a quarter. I want a roll-around laundry cart now!
Looking at the picture again, and I am curious.
What is that big thing behind the counter on the far right? It has an exhaust looking thing that goes up, but only curves right back into the mat.
What in the world could this be?
First of the Whirlpool drying cabinets?
