Halfway through cooking my Thanksgiving dinner last week, my oven door went from mostly (but not quite entirely) opening, to only halfway opening. Let me tell you, picking up the 20-pound cooked turkey out at the end was no small feat!

Where can I get a replacement hinge? Is it possible to fix? Has anyone else been through this here?

The first picture is of my oven, and the second shows the door in its new, current fully-open position.

Thank you so much!

I'm no expert, but that oven looks to be more like a 1967 or even 1977, which is better than 1957 as far as availability of replacement parts is concerned.

Others here should be able to provide guidance on the scope of the repair job and where to find parts.

repair

You'll have to get it apart and see what the issue is, some metal fabrication can make a new part. I'm making new brackets for an oven door this week, will use some steel and mig welder, some grinding to contour etc. new steel rod for hinge pins.

Don't worry...............

I have the same oven and it's definitely a '57 (not 60's or 70's). It doesn't sound like a hinge is broken, rather a stuck return spring. None of the less, the oven has to come out of the wall to inspect the hinge channel. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Yes..................

I wouldn't steer you wrong. Could also be a '58 because of the black glass clock face and meat thermometer. These ovens are good every day drivers.
