I rescued the 50s KM dryer. Hooray.

A bit of soap and water and it looks a lot better.

It really wasn't as bad as I feared.

Interesting thing. I pulled the dryer out, and of course need to unplug it right. There is NO plug or wire connected to it, and no sign of a plug or wire??? OMG. (Given what I know about the person, I'm not surprised at this revelation). I would not doubt that it sat in that spot since 1975 (approx.)

In looking at the dryer, it does not appear to have been used all that much in its 50+ year life. I did not find lint in the filter or inside. Check the pictures. All I washed is the top and sides.

The unfortunate thing is the motor seems totally ruined. When I tried to turn the pulleys there was give, but the motor is seized.

All the trim seems to be intact. There are no dents. The top has minimal wear. The inside door shows minimal wear. The console panel has minimal yellowing, though a bit of the gold backing is coming off at the top.
I'm amazed.

I'm going to sell as this vintage is not my genre.

hamper door open. Minimal wear or discoloring on inner door.

Tension wires, hinges, and latch all seems to be fine, present, and working.

I THINK Rickr has a washer which would match ok with this dryer. This dryer was directly wired into the wall, no plug, like an electric wall oven or range.

"Motor looks pretty rusted"

good observation.

I know it isn't as nice as those one commonly finds on Craigslist or as trades, these days.

Duet83, I am glad you saved the dryer. I hope she finds a good home. Sooner or later someone will be able to make a set. alr2903

Apparently there isn't much value in this.

I found the back panel, a curved piece of chrome trim, and the back to a WP/KM washer. I'm hoping I find a washer somewhere here.

What does one do about the motor here? Is there replacements, or does one modify?

If this were in top condition, what could one expect from it?

Well if it doesn't sell it is off to the scrap metal yard.
