Yes, I quite realize that. It seems that whoever got them was a "gay" person who was from AW site. Reason I say that is because of a rather nasty text I got back from the person who was selling them about "gay" guys from that site.

So many things are snapped up never to be heard about again.
When or if the new owner wishes to come forward, they shall. If not we all simply have to move on and let it go. Recall posted a vintage Frigidaire washer found on one of my early morning CL trolls. Thing was selling for $50 or less IIRC, and was gone before lunch time. To date no one has said a peep. Seems the only time we do hear about such units (other than when gracious members choose to share) is when something goes wrong and parts/repair advice is required.
As for the seller's comment, less said about that the better.
It has happened in past that for unique or highly sought after item a CL seller will be deluged with contacts after the listing has appeared on this site. You'd think they'd be grateful for the free exposure and interest in what often otherwise would just be another "old" appliance listing, but sometimes not. That someone would go behind the back of a purchaser and say such things is downright mean. It didn't seem to bother them taking the "gay" person's money.[this post was last edited: 8/9/2016-18:51]

One thing I've noticed. When something vintage shows up, on EBay, or C/L, the seller is sometimes deluged with EMails. Not from potential buyers from this site, but from others from this site who tell them what a rare and valuable piece they have, and that while they don't want it, the piece should bring lots of money.
The piece sometimes disappears, only to surface later at 4-5 times the original asking price.

I hope someone nice got them and will get them going again. That's unfortunate if the seller make a comment about the gays. It's even more unfortunate that there isn't much more appreciation for these vintage appliances from our straight brothers. It seems like us gays have to do all the work!
I always like seeing what other members have gotten. I love showing off what I have gotten also, not really to show off, but none of my family really cares.

Guess to some CL sellers since they didn't list their advert here, much less know the group exists all the sudden contacts mentioning can be startling. Am quite sure there is a population in the larger world whom thinks we are rather odd.
However that being said it still is no reason to be nasty. Had one not posted that Norge listing and or it otherwise never made it into wider circulation those units might still be sitting where they were. Gay or otherwise people need to wake up and realize outside of this and another few small groups the market for vintage appliances is very limited. More so for the prices some people seem to think their old rusted out and not working appliances are worth.
Gay money or not the seller should consider they are well off to have shifted that lot for asking price.

Yes - I made a mistake and posted the listing without checking the forum first. So shoot me. Wouldn't you rather I make a post in the hopes of not letting something slip by - than not, and never knowing about it?
Now, a member just asks a question out of curiosity - and it appears that he's basically brushed off with a dismissive attitude... Just 'let it go'... I mean, c'mon - why that response? Is it warranted? From where I sit - I don't believe that a number of the responses I've seen are really warranted...
Or - am I reading into it too much??
Either way, has this place, the place to share the joy of our hobby, descended into a forum of hateful comments over a freakin' Craigslist ad?

LOL True enough, just wish I knew that whoever got them appreciates them for the piece of history that they are. Consumer reports probably had more to do with the sales Norge had back then than anything else did. I know my father swore by them. As I stated before, the only difference in this set and the set my parents bought when I was born is that the dryer is electric and their's was gas with the big burner that could heat a house! Fastest dryer I have ever seen! Anyway, that was mainly my interest in this set. I wouldn't have minded having it just for the fact of what it meant to me personally. But alas, it was too far away and would have been nearly impossible to ensure that my money wouldn't just be taken from me and receive nothing.[this post was last edited: 8/10/2016-04:06]

first of all, if you weren't even interested in the items, why would you feel the need to even contact that person
and got several unpleasant email/texts over the whole situation.....
doesn't it bother anyone that AWO is being represented by a few 'jerks' giving the rest of us a bad rap!....
sometimes there should be a thread started for members acting out of context....you don't have to name name's.....usually the one who's guilty of the situation is the one who speaks loudest....they don't need pointed out, they know who they are....
if one or two don't get along, that's human nature.....when you get several who all feel the same way.....theres a problem with handling yourself.....
you should be old enough, and I would think mature enough, you don't need to be disciplined from us.....handle it on your own level....the world might be a more enjoyable place....
note too.....there have been items for sale.....a member posted an interest in purchasing it.....only to have another member pull an underhanded stunt and buy it right out from underneath that first member.......again, you don't see something wrong with having this sort of member in our group.....
worst part in any of this.....AWO gets a reputation that were ALL like that....ARE WE?...

Buying something from craig's list is kind of dangerous, it you live out of state. You could only make arrangements and HOPE that the seller is honest enough to actually let the set be picked up by either yourself or someone you know. At least on ebay you are protected from that. I just make an attempt to contact the seller and inquire about buying them long distance and having someone pick them up to have them brought to me at a later date, which obviously did not happen because he must have had a buyer with cash in hand. At first he said they were still for sale and the second time I contacted him, to set it all up, was all the nasty remarks after he had sold them. I was hesitant to do it, but considered it might be worth the risk involved. After the comments he made to me, I just considered myself lucky I still had my money. I really have no idea who or how many contacted him, but he sure had some homophobic statements to make and he just assumed I was one to direct them too, since I never even spoke with him.

It is risk buying some things from CL.
There are some pretty "seedy" parts of a city. Then there are the sellers that send you the good shots of the appliance and once you arrive after driving 6-7 hours see the machine has been mis-represented.
That has happened to me about 3 times. When I picked up that KDS-58 in Scranton... Only to find the cutting board top was so black with mildew and the door hinge was broke I left the top there and brought the rest of the machine home. There was Candle wax in the machine but it did clean up well. It still needs work but...
I have gone into scary parts of Boston only to say to myself on the way home... "WTF did you go there for ?"
