" 1957 ge pink refrigerator. Has bottom manual defrost freezer, original ice cube trays, lazy susan shelves in top refrigerator. Had unplugged to defrost and after cleaning went to plug it in and you can hear the motor click on and off but does not stay on. Could be a simple fix but we just dont have the time to put into it. If this were a 1957 model……..

it would have a pink interior. This is a 1958 model, which was the last year for the revolving shelves….PAT COFFEY

That is a '58 Combination; Pat is absolutely correct that the blue interior is the giveaway. It is also the TOL model; it's about 16 cu. ft. as opposed to the 13 cu. ft of the model that usually turns up. The brushed "beauty panel" on the freezer drawer's front is the clue to that; the smaller machine didn't have it. And rarest of all, it's right-opening instead of the usual left; that usually took a special order back in the day when reversible doors hadn't been invented yet.

I hope someone saves it. P.S.: If someone does go after it, be sure to ask about the meat pan, which isn't shown. It's a clear-anodized aluminum pan, sort of wedge-shaped, and it's an open pan, with no top. Replacing one is the dickens.

I knew I was tired last night, but not that tired!

The egg trays are also not shown, which probably means they're gone. The egg trays had a high mortality rate; they clipped into the door shelves and they were designed to be removed and taken to the stove when you wanted to scramble a few or whatever. Well, they were plastic and if you were a little careless and put them too close to a burner, you melted them.

They are pretty much unobtainium as well, unless you luck up on a donor machine.

The removables on these machines were:

Ice trays - 4 aluminum trays with the GE brand on their handles.
Egg trays - 2, white plastic with "EGGS" in red lettering.
Meat pan - Clear-anodized aluminum; it just sat on a shelf.
Butter dish - Clear glass, textured outside, smooth inside.
Cheese dish - Same as butter dish, but longer.

I would definitely enjoy seeing a '58 Combination bottom-mount with all these items still present and in good condition.

Sandy - I saw that meat pan in another CL refrigerator ad...typically, never do see those. The accessories are always lost in the shuffles or broken, not too hard to reason-out. I found some old aluminum ice trays at Goodwill and anytime I see a brand-name ice tray (with name on handle), I grab them....thinking one day, I may use these things.
