A few weeks ago, I saw this sad refrigerator posted in the Free section of craigslist. Looked vintage but posting didn't say what it was. I was looking for something for the garage so thought I'd take a chance before the scrappers got it. Owner said it worked fine.
Was beyond filthy, full of stickers and had quite a bit of light surface rust. Inside had one rack and no crisper. Took a chance and picked it up. Plugged it in for several hours before I attempted to clean it. Seemed to work fine. Compressor was very quiet. Unique that the back is completely flat with no exposed condenser. It is below with a small fan. Seemed to cycle well and held 36 degrees.
Pictures are of the initial listing, starting out the cleaning process and what it looks like now. Sure, it has a little dent and the racks and the crisper are from a late 50's Norge, but it will serve it's purpose! The only portion that I had to repaint was the lower front. It is textured with indentations and cleaning the surface rust took off some of the paint.
I haven't found many postings regarding these late 50's Admirals so I figured I'd share.
