I am starting another belt drive Whirlpool washer project…now it is a Canadian made “Inglis”. I saw this poor washer on a pickup truck and I managed to save this washer from the landfill.

This Inglis washer have been in storage for years. The washer is a basic entry bottom of line model with a black straight vane Bakelite agitator (missing a cap). One water level and has a suds saver.

I noticed it has the original cast pump, no lid switch, and seized up suds’ saver valve.

I am amazed this 60+ year old washer is in very good condition. The basket drive has no bearing play (little wear), seals seem to be in good condition, and no oil leakage. Generally, no significant rust on the cabinet.

After hours of trying to loosen the spanner nut and removing agitator block, both outer tub and basket are in very good condition. Very little rust (quite the opposite to my Brady Whirlpool washer). Sadly, the agitator has a crack….I will need to source a Whirlpool block style agitator with cap.

I am in the process removing the transmission and hopefully get the spin tube assembly out without damaging the bearings/seals….some rust corrosion on the top of the spin tube. Slowly polishing the shaft.

Congratulations on a great (and rare) find Robert! The important parts all look to be in great condition so I'm sure it will be washing clothes once again in no time.g

This is a 1965 model I believe - I think D520 if its a suds machine. If so here is a spec sheet to your washer.

I did happen to see the matching dryer to your washer several years ago and saved a couple pictures.

Congrats once again, can't wait to see your progress on this one.
