1960 STAINLESS STEEL WESTERN HOLLY STOVE & OVEN

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Oh dear gawd, that's exactly the science fiction Laboratory style oven & cooktop I want for my kitchen when it get re-built next year...and it's only two hours away in Royal Oak Michigan!

Alas I am homebound for the next few weeks or I'd already be on my way. Argh!!!!!
My current cooktop is a 4 element Tappan unit of the same era.

Someone please save this beauty.

Dave

Seriously guys, if someone here has already claimed it and picked it up (Kevin?) I beg you to re-sell it to me. I'm that enthralled by the set.
Because of my recovery I won't be able to be there or help out but Pete in Sarnia/Port Huron has the means to retrieve it and I would put it in storage until next Spring's kitchen rebuild here in Sprocketland.

Haha.
No I am referring to the Kevin that lives in Detroit that has the marvelous youtube cooking shows and a warehouse collection of stoves and ovens. I may have the name wrong...

But thanks for the laugh.
I have written to the seller myself indicating my fervent wish to purchase this set asap. Waiting on a response.

Hi Dave,

I think you were meaning me! No, I didn't pick this up - it is an interesting set for sure, the round oven door window is wonderful. But I'm not much for built-in's, or gas units (I'm assuming it is). Hopefully you have heard back from the owners and struck a deal!!

Davy:

Keep trying!

Many Craiglist sellers are very, very strange. I've had sellers call me back weeks or even months later. Some of them are quite unhappy to hear that I've found the item elsewhere and no longer need theirs.

Just be politely persistent.

Off hand, it seems to me that CL should offer a method to report/inquire about lack of response to an e-mail.  CL has the e-mail address of the listing party, and the messages from CL always make it through to the in-box when you're placing an ad, so they would be able to contact the seller and say something like "Hey, we're getting complaints that you're not responding, and in order to maintain the integrity of our site (insert eye roll here), we may have to pull your ad."  That might get the seller to either delete the ad or check their spam folder.

Also, whenever I respond to an ad I do my best to include some sort of local reference that a spam-bot wouldn't know about, such as a landmark or nearby highway/exit that indicates I'm familiar with the area, and I'll usually change-up the heading slightly, which is something else a spam-bot doesn't do.  Alas, while that might get me a response, it doesn't always result in follow-through.  I think it has a lot to do with timing.  Whoever catches the seller when they're inclined to make arrangements, wins.

I think we also might need to consider the source.  These are likely the same types of people who don't bother to pull down the signs they plastered all over the place after their garage sales are over with.
