1964-65 GE range sensi-temp burner stopped working

Hello everyone. I have my grandmothers classic GE 40”range. Now I’m not eating out because of covid and being a cancer patient, I’m cooking at home all the time. The sensi-temp burner stopped working. I was fortunate enough to have a used spare sensor (17.5ohms) which I installed. The old one tested open - 0 ohms. So I thought it would fire right up. I was so looking forward to using the factory Ge grill but when I turned it on - nothing. I thought it might be the thermostat sending unit that the grill knob is attached to which I replaced that part about 2005. It was NOS from a long time appliance store. Unfortunately with my health I can’t move this Cadillac of a stove. I did a little test. I pressed the grill button which makes the sensi burner and the 6” burner behind it work in tandem. Lo and behold the 6” burner worked but the sensi burner stayed cold. Because of that, I don’t think it’s the sending unit However I highly doubt all 3 elements of the 8” sensi burner are all bad. Any help/ feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance. I’d like to use the griddle for pancakes again.

Automatic Element problems

If the rear element works the first thing to check is the wiring at the 3 in one front element, these wires often break where they bend, and there is a common black wire that will stop all three elements from working.

 

Note, that wire trivet should never be used on an electric range if you are using a setting that allows the element to get red hot, doing so is dangerous and ruins the elements on your beautiful range,

 

If you want to use Pyrex on an electric range either use a lower heat setting or place the Pyrex on the element when cool and then turn on the element, setting Pyrex directly on a red hot element could break it, and of course you don't need a trivet with Corning ware, it can be set directly on a red hot element with no chance of damage ever.
