1965 Kenmore transmission oil change

Hi everyone

I got the 1965 turquoise Kenmore washer and dryer home last week
I’ve noticed there was a small leak of transmission oil at the plug where you drain the transmission I ordered new transmission oil from repair clinic ( The most expensive oil in America ) Anyway, advise on draining the transmission and refilling the transmission Would be greatly appreciated thanks so much

Oil Change On A 1965 KM 800 Washer ?

Hi Rob, there is no drain plug on that washers transmission, and slight seepage is nothing to worry about on WP-KM BD washers.

 

There is no easy way to drain the oil on these washers, there is an easy way to check the level and condition of the oil and then if it is not contaminated it can be topped off or regurgitated with additives.

Hi Rob,

John L is correct, there is no drain plug. I had the same slight oil seepage with my ‘64 and ‘66 Kenmores but never a problem.

BTW, what a great find! Those are absolutely beautiful machines. (And it seems that SoCal has been getting quite a bit more rain than we have up here in NorCal..!)

I’ll turn the machine on its side tomorrow and take a picture of what I think is the plug.

Congratulations on getting the set. They both look pristine.

Probably the eccentric adjustment nut for the main drive gear inside the gearcase. No oil drain on these. Just a vent port in top gearcase cover. Great looking set!
