1966/67 Kenmore Washer

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

That's the washer my aunt bought when their 2-speed frog-eye Kenmore (with back hinged lid) gave up the ghost. This was also the same washer the elderly lady next door to me had when I moved here January 1986. She moved up here with her husband in 1983 and he passed away less than a year after they moved here. I found out she had this washer when it was put out on the driveway after it died. Her granddaughter inherited the house after her passing in 2009. She's still my neighbor.

Wow! Looks like it was built at the end of 1965. Seems to be in great shape for its age but I’m sure it will need a full rebuild and the center post is probably toast. That being said if I didn’t already have so many Kenmore projects waiting to be started I’d probably go after that one too. It has the straight vane bake lite agitator.

So this was a new model for 1966 although it is very similar to a 1965 kenmore 500. The only difference I see in the features listed is the 1966 model has the updated 1966 lid handle.

Features:

Max speckled tub
Screen type filter with plastic handle
6 vane agitator with small cap
Porcelain top and lid
1 water level
3 cycle. Normal. Delicate. Wash n wear
3 wash temps
2 rinse temps
2 speed motor
White only
No lights

I remember seeing this model out on the curb in June of 1987. I recall the lint filter being plastic, but I thought it was the maze type.
