Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Except for the arrangement of the surface units which enabled it to have a slightly shallower cooktop, everything else like the clock, positioning of the controls, & side-swing oven door looks like the 30" electric Tappan.

That's a Tappan design, Chris. My sister had one in her house until the oven wouldn't heat above 112 F and she twitched her nose and it was gone. She hated that range - in a small kitchen the last thing you want is a big appliance that grows to take up more room and the oven was too small for most jelly roll pans.

I thought it was just "Fabulous" and was all ready to embark on an exhaustive search for the oven thermostat, but she would have none of it. "Get it outta here!"

She now has a 30" Whirlpool coil-top range in it's place.

The O&M was a Tappan design too, but in gas. I think Dan in Seattle had one just like this from Tappan.

I have a NIB O&M branded microwave oven made by Tappan in storage. Browning element, electronic controls and the famous Tappan flip-latch on the door front. I'll never use it, just thought it was neat with the O&M brand. Let me know if it keeps any of you up at night with pangs of longing ;-)

Have a look....

....at the first kitchen pic in this link. It is set up with 4 electric elements from left to right in a straight row...very simmilar to the gas one at top of page....

AND...it has a warming plate behind the elements under the ovens....

I want that house!

Did sears ever market one of those sliding drawer stoves??? My grandmother (and the house i was born into) had one i think... Where is the picture??? Grams swears it was a kenmore...House was built in 1954ish... Kitchen remodeld in 1964ish...

From the one pic i have it looks like a tappan fabulous (did caloric make an electric one).. and i know the dishwasher that reportedly burned up (smoke) in 1974-1975 (before i was around) was either a caloric or tappn..i have seen that dishwasher she had originaly here some where... The fridge was a Kenmore i know for a fact.. I have the book lol

We've rejected the house as it isn't quite right for us....and the rooms are smaller than they look in the pics too...

....but it is a lovely home....I would have considered it if the rooms were a little larger, there was a rumpus room underneath (as there should be given they put garages under)...

...and to get that stove

Oh i know...
I am in the slow process of getting a work visa and everything set up to come to australia for about 36 months. Either Melbourne or maybe sydney... but more than likley melbourne..If it works out

Ive been looking at houses just for fun down under.. And you all have some awesome houses

That stove, a rumpus room, the laundry looks nice.. Hehehe.. Its be nice for me! One can dream

Sears top oven range

When my Uncle Kell & Aunt Julie built their house in 1965 (later destroyed by fire), they bought a Kenmore range with the top oven & pull out burners. It had a steel storage cabinet in coppertone under it, which was sold seperately, as the range could also be put atop a cabinet which would match the others in the kitchen. Not sure if it was made by Roper though, as Sears did source certain ranges from others. They also had a Kenmore DW with Roto-rack, and GE ref., all in coppertone.
