Stephanie,

Maybe they don't have a truck and they need to rent one of hire a mover to do the job!  Then I assume, $400 isn't exaggerated!

Unless it was to somebody I know, I wouldn't consider delivering anything to a stranger by fear of not being paid for whatever reason the buyer might find, being held responsible of any damage made to the appliance or to the owner's property and even if I do have a truck, I'd still need to pay someone else to assist me moving a 40" range!

At least, the asking price of $100 is fair for anyone with the ability to move it!

The Check Rates Aren't Exactly Pouring In

The subject raised in the prior three posts does not belong in Super, as lamenting the recent high drama exit of an easily offended member is not an appropriate discussion for any public or private forum, not even ATT.

Robert has provided the PM option for this sort of thing.

Deja Vu

That's almost identical to my range, pictured below -- also a 1966 GE 40" J486. Mine has a different color backsplash panel. Also, the knobs on that San Francisco range look like they may have been replaced. FYI, 1966 was the last year that the P*7 ovens did not have a window.

I'm always a bit wary when I see a dirty self-cleaning oven. Either that feature isn't working, or the owners never bothered (or didn't know how) to use it. Last year, I had to repair an interlock switch in my range, to get the self-cleaning feature to work properly. But as PhilR said, at least the $100 asking price seems reasonable.

Sandy, sadly, has announced that he won't be returning to AW.org. But who knows...maybe if we keep talking about him, and encouraging his return, he'll change his mind. One can hope, I guess.
