1967 Whirlpool Washer

This washer was located in Spokane which is about 5 1/2 hours of driving from where I live in the Portland area. The guy selling it bought a “time-capsule” home from a 105 year-old lady who built the home and lived in it since the 1940’s. This washer was gently used by her all of the years since its purchase.

From what I can find, this machine would have been manufactured July, 1967. It was being used up until recently. The suds-saver valve has been replaced as well as the fill valve. No other service has been done that we know of but he said it runs smoothly.

Don’t mind the dirt from the moving blanket that was covering it. I hit lots of heavy rain coming home so it’s just really dirty but the cosmetics of the machine are really quite good. Should be a fun one to play with.[this post was last edited: 1/31/2022-01:04]

I will admit, I've been lusting over this washer for the past week. I was trying to figure out how to make it up there. I just checked and had noticed it was sold. My heart sank. But guess what, I am SO GLAD one us got it, and now it's safe and will be admired and loved! I'm so happy for you, what a great looking washer! Congratulations! Will you be uploading a video of it?

Fabulous washer!!  That would be one of my dream machines.  Very good cleaning, and of course the woo-woo sound is so soothing. <span style="font-size: 12pt;">Like the layout of the control panel too. </span><span style="font-size: 12pt;">I hope you have many good years of use with it.  </span>

Should be a fun little machine. The ‘64 Kenmore and now ‘67 Whirlpool are my two oldest functioning machines. Says a lot about their quality. Never thought I’d see a day when I’d have more Whirlpool-made washers than GE, though!

These were great work horse machines,

 

When I worked for the Maytag-Whirlpool dealer back in the early 70s I used to call these the Maytag killer. We sold several MT A107 or A207 washers and the customer was so disappointed with the cleaning and overall performance issues of the new MT [ vibration on wooden floors, silly out-of-balance-cutoff, and the fact the MTs would not even fill with the lid open let alone wash ] that I would take the MT back and give them an LAA5540 [ and about $95 back ] and customers loved the WP so much that they often sent their friends back for one.

 

This WP does have a porcelain top and lid, the agitator cap is a different plastic which is why it is shinny.
