1968 Kitchenaid Superba

I have a 1968 (going by copyright date in owners manual). The sprayer won’t stay seated during any of the cycles. It comes off the shaft and make a horrible noise. Spinning shaft in contact with side of sprayer. Has anyone encountered this and would this dishwasher be worth repairing? The dishwasher was installed in 68or 69. Usually run once or twice a week unless my parents were entertaining.

the force of the water spraying upwards from the jets is usually what keeps downward pressure to keep it in place...

It needs a new wash and possibly the support. The bronze bearing is kaput.
