Do you use heated dry on your dishwasher?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

None of my mother's nor my dishwashers have ever completely dried everything 100%. Plastic. Doesn't matter if heated or energy saver is selected. Everything but the plastic will be dry. But I'm used to that since our first one when I was 3. So now 50 years of drying the plastic items by hand or just putting them in the dish drainer for a bit to let them finish drying. Part of our routine.

I hardly ever used the heated dry on my Whirlpool portable. The final rinse temp I believe was always 145 degrees because I always used hi-temp wash when ever I ran a load. My current GE portable has no heat dry in the thing. Though it is nice being able to put plastic wherever and not worrying about it getting melted. Drying with this machine is so-so. Rinse aid is definitely a big help.

I prefer Finish products over Cascade, especially in my last apartment. I prefer heat dry in conjunction with rinse aid and matching detergent.

It helps to open the door if the machine is still warm and let the dishes dry. I have the Bosch 100 series premium. John is right in that I should have bought the KitchenAid but the KA had too "funky" and I liked the styling of this one better. It will sometimes leave wet dishes, even with a rinse agent. If you can catch it just as finished and open the door, that helps dry everything. I like the way the Bosch cleans always, and it is quiet but the drying is kind of a disappointment, even the crappy D&M Kenmores my parents bought every 3 years were dryer than this one. They made the dishes much hotter too.

I use the anti bacterial cycle with added heat. I think the beginning of the dry time is heated. GE profile 2011 4 cycle with steam. Heated dry is an option button. Some people hang a towel inside the door to dry the dishes better.

Yes. Every cycle. It’s a 20 minute dry cycle and the dishes are bone dry afterwards, if I don’t use it the dishes won’t dry easily and there’s spots. This is with my 2006 Powerclean. Hi temp scour is always used so that it does two rinses, without using that option it’ll only do one rinse cause it’s an energy star model, plus the extra heat assists in the overall cleaning process as I don’t pre rinse anything at all, so I hardly ever do use anything less than normal hi temp heated dry.

Also I forgot to mention that lately when I have plastics in the load, I open the door at the end of the heated dry and drape a thick kitchen towel over the interior of the door and close the door and it’s absorbs so much moisture, standing water on cups and whatnot and removes the water off the plastics if left for a few hours. I never unload it until the next business day…I run it and forget about it until I run out of dishes
