1969 Lady Kenmore Combo Restoration

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

Jon, I, like you, do have a bit of a problem with oversudsing in my combo. It seems that almost every type of detergent that I use will oversuds it unless Im very careful with the amount. When I use the combo, since it has that triple dispenser on the top, I always use a little fabric softener in the final rinse to help dissipate any extra suds. And I love the Super Washer feature. It really does do a great job washing.........

It is a beautiful dryer, just like any top of the line Kenmore is. ( is robert rolling his eyes yet????)

Are you kiddin' Jon, my 50AMP, '57 Lady Kenmore Hi-Speed dryer is a dream dryer! Good thing I have an extra set of elements, if it was taken away I would really miss it. It's a great dryer to say the least.

Memories, of LK past

WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL, Machine, we all thank you for saving it!

Mother had an earlier version, but control panel had a large piece of glass with LK printed on it, (maybe 1963?) and a bright light behind it which lit up half the house.

Wonder why Whirlpool did not try to build automobiles? This machine like yours took alot of engineering and were built like tanks.

Love these

My neighbor accross the street had a similar model. However, she never let me see it run. I asked her several times if I could and she refused. She said boys should play outside. She was nasty.

Regarding the comment about using two w/d combos side by side. I had a student working on a historical preservation project in Beverly Hills. The original plans and specs called for two Westinghouse w/d to be installed side by side (the ones Greg has). The owner ended up with a set of westy twins, not combos. They were probably not available by the time the house was built.

Great machine, Jetcone! Thanks for the pics and service explanations. I was going to mention the machine appearing in Mommy Dearest, too. I guess our TV-watching habits are in sync, appnut. All together now: WIRE HANGERS?!!

Thanks Jon for the neat pictures. That is one great machine. Seems like I remember a TV show called Family, they had what looked like a Lady Kenmore Combo and a seperate dryer. Anyone else remember that show?" Terry

Allen, my next door neighbor was exactly the same way. I NEVER got to watch even an entire wash cycle in either the 1959 or the 1964/5 LK Combo. It was portions here & there. She said the same thing, kids need to be outside playing and not couped up in the house.

Terry, my recollection of family was it appeared the machine aws used as a "dryer" cuz I remember seeing one or two top loaders--a Rollermatic maybe.

Can't stand nasty old ladies and fat pushy

Salesmen who keep shooing all of us away from WASHING MACHINES!
WE LIKE WASHING MACHINES!

FRONT LOADERS LIB!!
Hell no we won't go!!!
Lift the Lid, open the door!!
You can't get me off this floor!
Slosh, slosh, slosh
We ARE gonna watch this wash!

We had one NL in our neighborhood and she was somehow psychic!
I was only in the basement a couple of times but each time she was upstairs and knew I was slinking over to the Philco to lift the lid! I never made it! A psychic death ray!

Thanks Glenn and Bob for the information on "Family" You are right Bob now that I think about it they must have used it for a dryer as I remember the rollermatic. It was a good so and I enjoyed watching it but you can see what I remembered of it.LOL Terry

I look FANTASTIC of the Kenmore combination, I really like that!! I think to look like almost same as RCA Whirlpool..sure? I look shine of inside of the Kenmore's drum (cylinder) almost same as RCA Whirlpool.

And, will we bring the Kenmore combination to the private house (show by convention '07)

When will Robert take the video about 1969 Kenmore combination washer/dryer?

Hi Peter, well Jon lives in Boston and I live in Minneapolis, so the filming won't be anytime soon, unless Jon rigs up his Star-Trek transporter and beams me to Boston, or better yet, beams his combo to my house here in Minneapolis.

But did you see the videos of my 1958 Whirlpool Combo, which has a similar washing action to Jon's Lady Kenmore Combo?

Here are two links for you...

Combo wash (3.8mb)

Combo Drain/Spin (3.3mb)

VIDEO ?

Hi Robert, how are you doing?
