MW Advertised Tub Capacity and design comparisons

What was the advertised tub capacity of the MW "Norge" washer? 16, 18, 20 lbs?

Compared to some of the restorations of Norge machines of the 1950 and their capacity I can see why this model has a "beefier" transmission, having a bigger tub to spin and a larger agitator to handle the bigger loads of clothes and water. What is the rated hp of the motor? 3/4 or 1 hp? I remember them being greater than the standard 1/2 hp most used during the same time period

I too see the similarities in motor and pump placement to Maytag machines having the "helical" drive design.

Russel, the machine is an 18lb capacity, and the motor is at least a 1/3hp, possibly more. There is no tag on it that I could see, but the 14 lb version had a 1/3 hp. I would guess this one has the same 1/3hp, or perhaps they changed it to a 1/2hp. No larger than 1/2, I am sure. A larger HP motor would not be needed due to the clutch system of this machine.
