lid lock can be defeated
Hi Leon,
Back to the memory banks for me as I recall when the fellow installed Mum's machine he got his finger under the lid somewhere on the right hand side and just flipped a lever forward which defeated the safety lid lock,he did this so he could show Mum how it worked.
If I recall correctly I think Westinghouse were the first company to invent the safety lid lock in which the lid was actually locked down by a mechanism(which I HATED!!!by the way as it prevented me from watching it work).
The "Double Wash Action" symbol you see on the control panel simply means that the washbowl rotates in the opposite direction to the agitator stroke i.e. when the agitator strokes to the left, the washbowl rotates to the right and vice-versa.(Please forgive me if I already mentioned this feature before, as I don't want to seem repetitive.).
You may also be aware that the Hoover 700,800 and 900 series washers also had the same style of agitator, however they just calledit a different name I think it was called the "Heli-Spiral agitator.
Cheers.
Steve.
