I have this 1971 Lady K washer and it needs to go away.

I offered this to someone else on AW, also in CA, but they don't have room, no way to transport it, blah, blah, blah.

I hooked it up and ran another load in it last weekend. It works beautifully, is nice and quiet (except the detergent dispenser solenoid buzzes) and it does not leak. The console light even works!

As you can see there is a large chunk (large deep scratch?) in the porcelain top and a little rust at the base of the cabinet on one side. It just needs a thorough cleaning!

Again, just in case anyone missed it, this machine is being offered FOR FREE!

This is also an all-or-nothing offer. If no one steps up to claim the whole machine within 2 weeks (by 3/13/15) I'm going to strip it down for parts and kick the rest to the curb. In my current frame of mind, I am not willing to send any parts to anyone after I strip it down, so please don't ask.

IF you are interested in this washer, please contact me via e-mail or AW-mail.

Kevin

Picked up / gone

Thank you Rob for coming to pick up this washer!

A little more (rant) to the story: The person I originally offered it to said "I've wanted one of those for years, I DEFINITELY want it!" Then no reply for a week and a half...... then the "I don't have the room, no way to transport it, etc, etc, etc"

Gee, thanks.

Glad you found it a new home to someone who really wanted it....

if we all had a nickel for every time we hear those excuses.....

bad enough we get those types from Ebay or CL...but our own members know better....

bottom line, if your not serious, don't waste every ones time, or yours for that fact...

after all, there are shipping companies, and yes, it can cost money, but if you want something, you should be prepared, its not going to be handed to you, nor will it always be found in your back yard!...otherwise, knock it off....sounds like a broken record over and over....

excuses are like assholes, everyone got one, we just don't want to hear yours!

new home for lady k

THE LADY KENMORE MORE ARRIVED IN PALM SPRINGS LATE SAT. AND i HAVE BEGUN TO CLEAN HER. lOTS OF HARD WATER AND SOAP SCUM IN THE FILL NOSEL AND SOAP DISPENSER HERE ARE A FEW PICTURES.

THINKING OF USING FOR DAILY DRIVER TO GIVE THE 1-18 A REST BUT WORRIED ABOUT MOVING THE 1-18 TO THE GARAGE FOR THE SUMMER (GARAGE IS USUALLY 115+ DEGREES ALL SUMMER) IS THIS A BAD IDEA?

ANYWAY THANK YOU KEVIN FOR A GREAT MACHING

4 years later and I missed this. Well I have had a thing called life to deal with. I'm sorry I wasn't able to take this machine when it was offered. During that week of not responding I was looking for somewhere to store the machine since I lived in a 2 bedroom apartment with minimal storage and no washer dryer hook ups. If you think that was an "excuse" thats on you. Not everyone can drop what they're doing to travel over 200 miles to pick up a machine they have no room for. Maybe instead of judging the person to try and make them look bad, take into consideration what they may have going on in their own lives. But again, I apologize for not being able to follow through but am happy someone was able to pick up the machine. Life happens.

There are several homes in my area that have no inside laundry area. Their appliances seem to do fine in their garages. But during the summer, it's not the most comfortable place for folding.
