My 1976 Maytag automatic with the large tub started to leak. This machine is my daily driver. All it was, was a torn hose from the tub to the pump.
The 1980 Maytag electric dryer stopped heating. All it was, was a loose wire.
All up and running again. The repair man was amazed and said that he hasn't seen Harvest Gold in years, and he also said that he was amazed that there are no scratches anywhere on either machine. I am particular and never set anything on either the washer or dryer.
When both were not running, I did laundry in either my Maytag master wringer machine or the Speed Queen wringer and then hung the clothes in the basement.
