Roper Built Range

As with most Roper built Electric Ranges this one while interesting is not nearly as well constructed as GE, Frigidaire or even Westinghouse, so it is great to find one of these that had been well cared for and actually worked. When I found it the oven was filthy it looked like they didn't know how to turn on a SC oven, but it did turn out to have a bad latch switch that prevented it from heating when the door was locked and set for cleaning. I replaced the latch SW and ran a SC cycle, it was impressive that the oven did not smoke at all [ good catalytic smoke eliminator ] but the oven did not do a good job cleaning the floor in the front area. I reversed the wiring so the bake element would get 80% power and the broiler would get 25% and reran the clean cycle and it worked much better, although if it had been this way when the oven was very dirty it would have smoked as the broiler is what heats the catalyst

Didn't know Kenmore offered one. I've seen Littons, that's about it.
