So i recently bought a 1951 brick bungalow and this was left by the previous owner, date on manual says 1981, looking to sell if anybody is interested, ( partner wanted a new LG) turned on the coldest setting and 2 hours it reached temp (bet a modern fridge couldn't do that!)

same as mine

I have that same model of GE fridge-mine made august,1980-modified the automatic defrost with a switch to disable that feature until defrost actually needed-had fridge in DD service until a 1991 KM badged GE was activated for a test run and got "stuck"in service when I got to busy to swap back-The '91 KM is quite loud(mostly a loud evap fan) so will be glad to rotate the '80 GE back into DD :)

@Kenny

I would agree. My parents GE fridge they got in Aug '74 has been in constant use since then with never a problem or repair.

power usage not too bad

when I got my '80 GE,the fan motors were worn and noisy but still working,so I replaced the condenser fan motor with one from my used box rated for .13a and the evap fan was replaced by a 12vdc ECM motor:with the new fan motors,fridge pulls 2.8a-not too bad for a decent size frostless of the era,in contrast my '77 kelvy pulls ~4.1,though the kelvy is a powerful fridge-cools right down and cycles off right away when started with a warm interior :)
