Hey all!
Looks like the site changed and lost alot of it's "cozy, old school forum" feel. All good. Looks like everything has moved over just fine, and I'm glad it will remain online as a very valuable resource of information.
Significant progress has been made on this machine!
-Cabinets been re-painted, and a few chips in the porcelain top touched up.
-Tub and baseplate installed in cabinet.
-Coin slide assembly has been cleaned and painted.
-Transmission and basket drive have been assembled together and adjusted just right.
-Wiring, fill switch, inlet valves, and control parts have been cleaned up.
-Transmission, motor, new belt and braces installed and wired up!
-Pulley swapped on pump, and pump installed.
I made sure to fill each bearing in center and spin tube with oil, and made sure machine was upright before tightening bolts holding transmission in place. I also gave the NOS Whirlpool pump a little oil in its wick. at over 20 years old, I want it to have a good start.
The one brace behind the motor was a little short to reach the transmission, and needed a little squeeze in the vise to get it just right, but other than that it was alot of fun and everything went together nicely.
To get the assembled tub and baseplate assembly in the cabinet, I found it easiest to lift the cabinet with a small chain hoist and carefully lower it down over the assembly.
All thats left to do is-
-Re-assemble the control panel, and coin assembly to the top and wire up the controls.
-Install drive block-- Do I really need to bend the metal "tabs" on the spin tube to hold that in place? or does it pinch on strongly enough with inner tub and nut? Couldn't quite tell if original had tabs bent, or if it was just corroded/swollen
-Sand off rust and re-paint snubber plate (porcelain coating worn through. May just make another out of stainless or galv. metal)
-Install tub cover and snubber
-Install agitator and assemble top to machine.
See pics! many more to come! and thanks for reading. If there is anything I'd like to get for this machine, It's a new tub cover. This one has plastic getting dry, crumbly and grey on inner edge, and as I said, the snubber plate is pooched. And perhaps a new agitator as this ones a tiny bit discoloured and loose on the shaft. I wouldn't mind a tub cover with that pull-out lint filter if it's all that's available in the future. For now, I'll make what I have work just fine. Thanks John, and James for the kind words regarding the progress!

Bonus pic of a 1968 RCA-Whirlpool air conditioner I've been working on restoring alongside this washer

Hopefully the washer works as well as it does when I'm done with it!
