One of those "I GOTTA have it!" items. This model has been on my short list for quite awhile as I hadn't been able to locate an earlier all-chrome unit worth grabbing. These are getting tough to find--even in Phoenix--land of the plentiful vintage! Thought you'd like to see pics (shaky as some are--sorry)….BTW, anyone have a manual specific to this model RRL-8TD??

Nice RRL!

These were the last of Amana's 'full-size' models along with the RR-8TD using the same control panel layout (with brown button accents). What's ridiculous to me is that they didn't even offer the clock feature on these! I'm pretty sure more features can be added by a panel swap, but AFAIK this is the only one made with white accents (SHARP!) so that may be a no-go from an aesthetic point of view.

Here's a link to the manual for that model.....

CORY!! Saved my day!

I had found another similar manual online for rrl-8xa….it was close, but not quite! So many thanks for forwarding this one to me!

I was soooo lucky this machine came up--it's been for sale for a month and I finally got a call from the seller that I could go see it today. I KNEW if it was nice, I'd wind up buying it.

It would have been nice to have one orange accent on the graphics, but know what? It doesn't matter at all at the end of the day cos it has exactly the monochromatic look I wanted with no fake woodgraining and no brown buttons. Still plenty of chrome, and every bit as appealing to me as my late lamented RR-9 Touchmatic.

VERY sleek, this one. Quite incredible condition, too--I think it maybe got used now and then to warm up coffee. No grot, grit, etc. And no smells. Just beautiful. Shows like a gently used 2 year old RR. And yeah--I thought I was gonna go nuts over figuring out the clock function until I realized it doesn't exist on this….

Love it! If I could find one like it I'd own it! My sister in law's parents have one that looks identical but theirs *does* have a clock. It is in pretty much the same condition as yours (as is everything in their house, they take care of everything) I love the bottom opening door and PUSH to start button, rather than a touchpad square.

RR-5B has a new home!

Pictures of the Radarange model RR-5B that just made its way into my house yesterday. I bought it off Craigslist for only $65. It was located in eastern Mass., so I had my brother grab it for me.

Old-school type of guy that I am, I prefer the rotary dials, rather than touch panels.

Sold quite of few Radaranges in our store over the years, but never thought to save one. Now I have one.

Any chance of getting the literature that came with this model?

If someone asked me, from an engineering standpoint, which RR model would prove the most reliable in the long run, I'd probably say the 5B. The defrost/slo-cook options are driven off a motor/cam arrangement and there's nothing electronic anywhere inside the machine that can fail. The timer is clever in that the minute increments get smaller the further you turn the dial so you have a little more resolution in the first several-minute range without the need for a second timer (like the 4D or 7). Pretty slick. -C

Roger--agreed--

The clean look of these RRLs is appealing to me as well--which is why I jumped on buying this one when I did. The build quality and feel is EXCELLENT, sort of like a vintage Mercedes Benz-- especially when compared to new MW ovens. SO happy :D
