I have a 1983 whirlpool washing machine.

Replaced the wig wag about a year ago and all was fine after that.

Now it looks like the spin wigwag is not pulling up.

I checked the resistance and both solenoids are over 500.

How can I check if voltage is coming to the spine solenoid.

If the is no power at the leads that go to the spin solenoid, what may cause this?

Also, the spin cycle runs but it appears this the solenoid pin get jammed and makes a bang sound.

Additionally the spin doesn’t stop when the cover is opened. I checked the switch and the circuit breaks when depressed.

It is quite common that the wire to the wigwag breaks right at the terminal on the wigwag.
The copper wire inside breaks due to the flexing of the wire as the wigwag moves back and forth.
The plastic insulation remains undamaged so it is an "invisible" break, it is just the copper wire strands inside the cable that break.

Well I think I discovered why the plunger was getting stuck in the up position. This was happening on the left spin solenoid of the new wigwag. I made a mistake and didn’t replace the plungers. The old failed solenoid caused the plunger to jam and it bent. So when it was drawn up into the ne solenoid it would wedge and jam.
I will attach a photo of the old plunger.IMG_0390.jpeg
