Well, after so many years of believing that I had shaken the "antique car" bug, I relapsed yesterday and bought this one. It's a 1985 Buick LeSabre Limited Collector's Edition with 93,000 miles. It's a one-owner car that appears to be in very nice original condition. I did not bring it home yesterday as there was one small repair that I ask the seller to correct and they agreed to do. I will either go during the coming week and pick it up or go next Saturday and get it. It is in Canton, GA which is about 40 miles north of me.

Not Perfect

But that adds to it's appeal to me. I purchased it from a dealer who made some nice repairs (new radiator, new tires, new headliner, new filler panels at the bumper) but who chose to NOT repaint the car. I'm glad he left it as is. I do have the paperwork to document the one-owner claims and last evening I found some of the 1985 'Collector's Edition' paperwork/portfolio (Ebay) that would have come with the car and I purchased it, although I did receive the bronze key blanks and key fob that the original owner had.

It does. And I was surprised to find out that it has a 4-barrel carb, not fuel injection. Hard to realize that the car is 25 years old and how much cars have changed in that time. This one has an AM/FM Cassette player, there are no air bags, no keyless remote entry (how primitive is THAT?), and still has the accelerator pedal that is hinged at the floor instead of being suspended.

Beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I`ve always loved that style , from what I remember It all started in 1977 & ended after 1985.

I bought a 1977 chevy capprice classic in 1981 & after I retired the car in 1986 I kept it & put it in storage , No way was I going to let go of my baby.

I loved those cars.

Youres is beautiful !!!!!!!! Congratulations

IIRC,the wagon version stayed around until early 1990 and
was the last GM car with a 4-barrel carb.
BTW-have seen a few of the wagon versions as hearses.

Under The Hood

You're correct, this platform didn't die off completely until 1991. They still built the Caprice and the Bonneville through the 1990 model year and a lot of the Fisher parts were common to them all. They should have gotten their money's worth out of that production run - began in 1977!

believing that I had shaken the "antique car" bug,

1985.......antique?

I guess I am getting old, lol

I miss true American luxury cars...

When it was COMFORTABLE to travel anywhere...even just to the store. Sigh. Give me a floaty ride and an unknown destination anytime. :)

I miss my 1985 Buick Park Avenue.

I have a 79 Caprice myself. It's been in the family since new and through 3 generations. It only has 80k miles, but looks a little rough being kept outside for the last 12 years or so. I hope one day to restore the car, when money and time permit.

Your Buick reminds me of the '83 Electra my Grandfather had. That was a great car. So beautiful and elegant. It was still driving strong when it left the family when it was about 20 years old. I hope whoever has it has taken good care of it. Unfortunately, we can't save everything.

Very nice find!
The seats in your car the most comfortable seats I think Buick ever had in their cars!
Great find!
Happy Cruising!
