1992 Built GE Profile Filter Flo

I picked up this nice GE Profile Spotscrubber washer from the estate of a bachelor in Houston last Sunday. It still had the plastic on the control panel which luckily came off easily to reveal an untouched panel. This washer was built in October 1992. Unfortunately the mini basket and fabric softener dispenser were no longer with the machine although I asked about it I’m pretty sure they were thrown out when the house was cleaned for lack of knowledge of knowing what it was. The washer is clean and works great.

That's a nice looking machine. It's a shame they used a plastic that yellows for the knobs and trim. The melamine plastic knobs on my 1953 Westinghouse range are still as white as snow.

I agree about the yellowing. I’m usually not a fan of white on white but this washer was in too good condition to pass on. And being a top of the line spotscrubber I felt I had to save it. Lol

Nice washer. The yellowing can be remedied with hydrogen peroxide and the sun or UV lamp.

Last GE spot scrubber washer

Hi Melvin, we have this success, same machine, and the plastic knobs on our yellowed a lot too.

We save this one for the museum. I have the control panel from the spot scrubber from one year earlier, which had the more traditional better looking GE control panel with chrome knobs. I’m gonna change it out on our for the museum machine.

I may have an extra spot scrubber basket for this machine. I can look if you’re interested in getting one the scrubber minibasket was the same except it did not have the holes in the bottom of it so it would keep the concentrated low water level detergent, water in the mini basket. I’m sure you could just put the regular mini basket in and seal the holes in the bottom of it.

Thanks everyone. John I have a mini basket that will work in it. Thanks as always for your generous offer. I just think it’s really neat to find a machine with all of its original paperwork and accessories although that doesn’t happen that often. I thought it might take the smaller basket due to these late filter flos using the short agitator with an extension but the larger basket stops on the collar of the extension and fits like it should.

I’m sure it is. I haven’t opened the control panel but I’ve tucked the machine into safe storage. It sat in the kitchen of the previous owner since new.

Keep it in safe, climate controlled storage. You have a masterpiece of a machine. I wish my Speed Queen had a cycle selection like this GE model.

Jerome Electro mechanical filter flo. Absolutely stunning controls and layout. 

 

 

From left to right-

 

A 5 button vertical push selector. To the left of the buttons it says Fabric Care Selections. Just below that in slightly smaller letters it says Programmed Speed and Temp. To the right, each square push button is labelled as follows from top to bottom.

 

Button one, Cottons Colorfast 

 

Button two, Cottons Non Colorfast

 

Button three, Permanent Press

 

Button four, Knits or Delicates

 

Button five, Washable Woolens

 

 

To the right of that is a knob labelled variable water level.

 

At the three o'clock position it says mini basket.  Going clockwise at the 7 o'clock position it says small. At about 8 o'clock it says medium, 10 o'clock large, 12 o'clock extra large 1 o'clock reset. 

 

Next to that is a knob labelled options. There are three as follows going clockwise: cold wash at 11 o'clock,  normal at 12 o'clock, warm rinse at 1 o'clock.

 

 

Next knob says spotscrubber. The small grey square isn't labelled, but a curved ling going clockwise leads to another small grey square at the 1 o'clock position labelled On. Bellow this knob it says mini basket only.

 

 

Next is a slide knob, possibly a rocker labelled above as extra rinse cycle. To the right top it says on, to the bottom of the switch its says off. 

 

Last to the right is the main cycle knob. 

 

 

First cycle is labelled Regular Cycles. Starting at around the 8 o'clock position going clockwise Heavy, normal, light soil. Soak cycle around the 9:30 position. Optional extra rinse around the 11 o'clock position. Off at 12 o'clock. 

 

Next cycle is Permanent Press Cycles. Normal, light soil. There is no extra rinse sequence on this cycle. Off around the 2:30 position.

 

Next cycle is called Special Cycles. It has knits followed by mini quick. There is no extra rinse sequence on this cycle.   

 

Next Cycle starting at around 4 or 5 o'clock, is called the Spotscrubber Cycle. It is a long cycle. It continues to about the 8 o'clock. The beginning is simply labelled start. The extra rinse is around 7 o'clock and labelled automatic extra rinse.   

 

Below the cycle knob, way below, you have the GE meatball symbol with the fancy letter font of Profile.

Does anyone have the tech sheet to this washer? I've never seen one in person and nothing is available online.
