The tubseal on our washer is on it's way out for the 2nd time in 8yrs. Is it worth fixing again, or should we consider getting a different machine?

This is about the 10th machine I have come across with a Dependable Drive transmission in it that has had a tub seal issue on it. And out of those 10, I have repaired 4 of them. It has been my conclusion that Maytag has had a real problem with the process their supplier uses to stamp the outer tub. One machine I had apart for a week trying to figure out why this thing kept leaking water all over the floor, and lo and behold, the tub itself was bad. It never was the tub bearing mount, or the boot seal itself being responsible. The outer tub.

From a personal standpoint, I would fix the machine. Yes, an outer tub might cost you a little over $100, but I would be willing to bet at this point, you're not going to have this problem again. Trust me, this problem wasn't easy to find and I have made several customers happy again. Hopefully you might be one more, if you choose to make this repair. Coupled with the fact that the machine has a Suds-Saver? Well, as most of us know, this type of a machine is no longer made by any manufacturer, and if you value that feature in a washing machine as much as I do, well the decision is pretty easy to make. Because as far as the basic machine goes, it's well worth putting the money in. Your not going to get another Maytag as good as that one until Whirlpool gets rid of all the JUNK under the Maytag name and starts putting their own transmissions in the Maytag top-loaders.

Keep in touch and let me know what you decide to do. I'd be interested to see how you make out.

The seal is on order as of this post. It should arrive by mid to late week. My wife said that no matter what the cost, she wants to keep this machine because of the suds-saver feature.
