...tube shortwave radio: Lafayette HA-225.Got this one several years ago and just getting to checking it out:tubes all original "Matsushita"and all lit up-one glowing white and that one an argon -filled cold discharge type.1964 date codes found on some parts. Now time to hook speaker and antenna and see if it works at all :)
 
it makes noise...

...a loud hum from the speaker-time to pull off the cover and look for dead capacitors :) and also check/wiggle tubes,repair broken band spread dial string,and try it again.
 
Sorry for the tardy response...

...was hoping to give update, but dirtmoving project(to place a shipping container) took precedent :) the radios are fun to collect and use and do take up less space than major aplliances,though some old 1930s-40s console radios and all eras of console HiFis can be large :) Got the cover off the subject HA 225,and 14 tubes in that thing.
