If vehicles are simply large stylish appliances for our convenience, utility and comfort then many folks may get some joy from my tour of the Detroit Auto Show this past Thursday.

I had to forgo the Show last year for the first time in decades due to the weather and was bound and determined nothing, be it snow, sleet, hurricanes, raining frogs, puppies nor pestilence would keep me from attending this year. I prefer to go on Industry Preview Days for the smaller crowds and excellent photo opportunities, rather than the Public Days when the crush is annoying and frustrating. Also, one can sit in the cars and examine under the hoods and trunklids on Industry Days. Everything is locked up on Public Days.

Being very image intensive - 140+ photos - it's probably best to let the entire thread load before scrolling.

I had the best-est time and discovered with extreme pleasure what I hope will be my next vehicle in a few years, now that I've had to write off the New Directions SUBARU lineup.
Click on the vacuumland link then and join me, won't you, as I wander the wide aisles of COBO Hall drinking in the Astonishing Wonder that is the latest offerings in personal transportation. I know you will find something here to wish for and dream upon...

Haven't had a chance to look through the pix, but what is that Venturi stand to the right of Suburu? Venturi went under about a decade ago, and they never sold in North America . . . would love to see them come back, super cool cars. Nice to see Fiat there as well, I truly loved all of my Fiats - good to drive, simple to fix and generally reliable. Hopefully they can give Chrysler some competitive designs now that Ford and GM are on a roll.

I'm heading down to the show at some point this week, odds are Sat. Looking forward to seeing what's new. Heard the energy is much better this year, hope that's the case, last years was pretty depressing.

Made every show except one since the mid 70's, hard to believe I've been going that long...

Fantastic pictures!

I especially love the new gorgeous Jaguar 4 door coupe. It looks like an Aston Martin, but big!

As is the Maserati. But I think that will be a bit more pricey!

Wouldn't mind a new corvette though. :)
