I know we have a few Christmas threads going -- but I thought it would be nice to compile everyone's decorations in one thread. If you haven't joined in yet, no time like the present! Let's see those trees and decorations!

Here's our tree -- It's the same tree and color wheels I have been using for the past few years. Most of the ornaments were purchased by my grandparents at Woolworth's in the 50's. The tree stand rotates, too. It's a magnificent addition to the room -- and we look forward to having it up every year.

Harriet always gets into the decorating mood as well, thought she never can seem to reach the window. She's donning some silver garland wrapped with GE Lighted Ice Bulbs. Oh, we found her a new dress at an estate sale a few weeks ago. It's really stunning -- but we need to get her some black gloves. She's embarrassed that her gloves don't match her shoes.

Speeaking of Lighted Ice -- these are my absolute favorite Christmas lights. There's no light as beautiful. I've never been able to bring myself to take these out of the packages... one set is still wrapped in its original plastic.

They're pretty plentiful on eBay -- I just splurged and bought these... One of these years we'll maybe do an artificial tree with Lighted Ice lights all over.

Those lighted ice bulbs would be awesome on an all-white artificial tree, but to make it work you'd need white cords with white sockets. Then all you would see would be glowing orbs of color.

A rotating aluminum tree is great, because then you get to see all the ornaments, including the ones otherwise hidden on the back side of a non-rotating tree.

Trees

I am afraid I subscribe to the "more is better" ethos on this one, plus 10 sets of retro lights and decs :-)

The room is beautiful and i understand the type tree you have gone for though

Bubble Lights

I found this set of mini bubble lights at a yard sale.
Can someone tell me how to put them on the tree properly? I find the stand of lights is too short and you just get a clump of them in one area. How do you get the lights to sit up straight and not flop to the side?

Good Thread!

I'll add some pics later on!

rpms, your best bet for those bubble lights is to find a thick branch and use those clips to secure them on.

Here it is Friday and I haven't put our tree up yet. I was debating not using the aluminum one this year and going with a real one so I could use some of the electric lights.  Decisions decisions..  My rek room is way too cluttered at the moment to put a secpmd tree up down there.

The newer bubble lights like above are a bit of a pain, just like the new outdoor lights.. very difficult to get the cord stretched out and stay stretched out..  You might try stretching them out and running a hair dryer along the cord to soften the plastic a little and then let it cool stretched out.. Dunno if it will work or not and another set of hands would help.  Can't think of anything else.

This year's understated tree

More is always better, so this year I figured a way to secure one of my hideous tree toppers to the aluminum tree, which really wasn't designed for such a contraption.

At least the Jewelbrite ornaments are lightweight.

I'll share mine again :-)

I'm quite proud of it and I love this tree! You all have some very beautiful trees out there and I feel honored to be able to share mine with you. Merry Christmas!
