2013 Maytag Centennial Washer and Dryer Longevity

In 2013 My Family's mid-2000s high-efficiency frontloading Kenmore washer and dryer stopped working. The dryer was replaced due to a drum issue that caused it to squeak constantly. Believe me, we tried everything to fix the problem belt dressing a new belt etc. The washer was replaced after 8 years due to a broken pump. We purchased a 2013 Maytag Centennial Commercial Technology Washer and Dryer Pair to replace them both. Does anyone have any experience with these machines and if so can you please tell me the average longevity of these machines?

What's the need to replace an 8yo washer for a bad pump?  That's akin to buying a new car because of a flat tire or dead battery.

More information about your usage habits, for starters how many loads do you wash a week ?

 

How hard is your water ?

 

Do you use plenty of detergent or dose lightly, and how often do you use bleach and how is it added ?

 

What temperature do you wash in ?

 

But in general the washer you have can last 5-30 years before it is not worth fixing and the dryer should have a life range from 10-40 years before you probably would have to replace it.

My family probably does 4 loads of laundry per week. I usually do my laundry once a week on Friday Evenings. Plus A Load Of Towels on Sundays or Mondays. So Probably 6 loads of laundry per week overall. For large loads, I tend to use a large amount of soap. For small loads, I generally use a much smaller amount of soap. We don't use chlorine bleach at all in our washer. Our water where we live is pretty hard as Calgary AB gets most of its water from mountain runoff. Overall though our machine works pretty good. A lot better compared to some of the newer Maytag Centennials.

I have a Maytag Centennial MVWC415 that will be 2 yrs old in Dec. I wash almost every load with hot water, and mostly us either the Power Wash or Deep Water cycles. Both of these cycles use enough water to just cover the load, without being wasteful and have fill rinse, instead of spray rinses, and they spin before the rinse, so the dirty water is extracted before the rinse fill. I’ve never found it necessary to add an extra rinse and there is never any residual detergent left in the clean wash.

I wash the majority of the laundry on Wednesdays, 3 loads, and do a load of sheets on Sat. My dryer looks like yours. These machines are GREAT! They have never disappointed me. Every load comes out perfectly clean in a reasonable amount of time. And the capacity is adequete to handle king size blankets, comforters, bedspreads and pillows. So no trips to the laundromat.

Since our water is very hard here I use the max amount of detergent, and have never had a problem with over sudsing. I do run the Clean cycle once a month with 1 cup of LCB, and I don’t use liquid fabric softener. I hope that these machines last a good long time.
