Mom is looking for a grocery-getter type car with city street 4x4 capability, easy to drive, easy to park, easy to get in and out of with upright-ish seating position. These jeeps seem to fit the criteria :) I know these are Fiat, but i like some 1960s-80s Fiats, and AFAIK,no major reliability/durability issues that i know of with the Renegade...Anyone have any experience or thoughts on this vehicle for a nice grandma car :)

all wheel drive

When making your selection, just be aware that an all wheel drive version of a vehicle gets worse gas economy than the front wheel drive version. I wish I had never got an all wheel drive vehicle because of this.
Very seldom is it needed, even here in Snowy New England.
And there are more components to go bad. For example I just paid $3600 for a new rear end.

I drove one last year as a rental after my 2012 Ford Escape got wrecked. It was OK, but used a lot of gas for something so small. The load area was REALLY small, so didn't hold much. I had driven a Nissan Rogue for a few weeks before, and it was somewhat better, but load area also too small. Was really glad when I found a 2009 Escape to buy.

My Acura MDX AWD with V6 gets 25 consistently, sometimes a little better on the open interstate. Love AWD! Works great in rainy weather too. Last year when we had that ice the Acura with its control never missed a lick and I tried to make it do it.

full report on the way

bought a 2019 Latitude,2.4 engine running through 9-speed auto transaxle. Ride is a little firm and it will take me a while figure out how to work all the"tech" features and the radio LCD will need repair/replacement-faulty LCD a common problem with these Jeeps. will see how mom likes it :)

so far really like it

really nice little car. 2.4 multiair an interesting engine and runs great with plenty of power for this type of vehicle-valve train is noisier than most.Got the LCD touchscreen fixed-bought replacement LCD on ebay for about $48 and installed in the radio-was an easy repair(several Youtube videos on the subject) Radio was made by Continental-a German company.
