26" cooktop shopping

Hey- We're looking to replace the 26" cooktop that's in the upstairs kitchen. Ideally stainless would be nice. Does anyone have any suggestions? All we seem to be finding is a Frigidaire one that's +/- $500.

We did find a refurb white one for $250 at Sears Outlet.

What size are the GE units that have the tethered push-button control?

That GE is 30 inches. GE made a model JP72 that was 23 inches wide and was available in the mix or match colors, dark coppertone, white and brushed chrome. It had 4 rotary switches, one 8 and three 6" surface units. One of them might turn up in a Habitat for Humanity or similar store.

Thanks, Tom! Another thing we can keep an eye out for. It would be OK to go a little smaller (probably) bit we can't go bigger because of the existing tile/counter.
