28 inch deep white refrigerator for 28" D x 68"H x 33" W space

Looking for a white fridge that's 28 inch deep. Can stretch to 29-30 inch deep but it will stick out into kitchen and be annoying to walk by. Prefer top freezer but open to a side by side. Looking for 15 to 18 cu ft up to 20-21 cu ft ok if it fits. Good reliabe like a Whripool top freezer with no ice maker and little to go wrong or similar is what we want.

Space is 28" D x 68"H x 33" W

GE 15.5 cu ft the GTE16GTHWW and GPE16DTHWW are 29.5 inch deep minus handles

Maytag MRT118FFFH at 31.38 deep would stick out too much

Whirpool WRT134TFDW is about the same as the GE 29.88 deep but only 14.3 cu ft

I have a 15.5 cu ft GE with the concealed handles, top freezer, no ice maker and wire shelves, which I prefer over glass anyway.  When I bought it I also ordered an extra shelf and kept the snack drawer from our previous 18 cu ft GE.  

 

With the extra shelf it has at least as much storage room as the 18 cu ft model.  I love this fridge!  It’s quiet, keeps a consistent 5 F in the freezer and 38 to 40 F in the fresh food compartment. 

 

 We have a small, condo efficiency kitchen and for your same reasons didn’t want the fridge to stick out anymore than necessary.

 

I would highly recommend this fridge.  We bought ours over 3 years ago and its the best fridge we’ve ever owned.  The worst was an Amana bottom freezer model that we bought in 2001, the milk always spoiled before its exp. date and the lettuce always froze.  I was so glad to see that POS go out the door.

GE used to make a line of 24" deep refrigerators.  I think it was part of the Profile line.  Have no idea if it's still made.

 

I don't know why the manufacturers insist on making refrigerators these weird sizes.  The established depth of kitchen cabinets is 24" deep.  It's been like that for 60+ years. 

Most free standing stoves fit nicely without protruding.  Have you ever seen a dishwasher sticking out 6" ?

Wall ovens fit nicely in their respective cabinets.   Same for draw dishwashers, built in microwaves, and most other kitchen appliances.   

 

Why the weird 30  to 36" depth on refrigs?

 

Remember, you don't want refrigerators or freezers tight up to any wall.  The need at least an inch all the way around to breath.

Apparently GE does still makes some but.......  At least for me, there's no way I would spend this.

Looks like GE is closet depth

GE 15.5 cu ft looks like closest fit. Counter-depth like GE above makes poor use of storage space and can be expensive. Top freezer Whirpool/ Maytag is very reliable but GE is ok too. Basic no frills top freezer shallow depth white fridge to match other white appliances is hard to find.

It's an odd space 27-inch deep x 36-inch wide x 70 inches tall. 28-inch depth plus an inch or two rear clearance won't stick out enough to be an issue. An inch or two on the top or side is nice too. 29.75 an 30 inch or deeper will stick out too munc.
