had 2 Roomba bought several yrs ago. Rarely used but the one at other home used enough to keep using. That Battery was bought off Ebay in 2015 not an Original Roomba battery. Well tried ordering 4 from two other Enay sellers. No dice. Then found a new Roomba genuine battery supposedly ,off Ebay . no dice either. Returned for a refund.
So disappointed. But before that bought a 3rd Roomba (Ebay, too)with an aftermarket battery. It didn't charge either.
Last week Hubby picked up the original Roomba booklet and I called the 1 800 number ordered. it a supposedly original Roomba from I Robot itself. Thought "yeah" I ordered it over phone this time.. It was delivered. Charged it for over 48 hrs . The "power" light will turn green But then turn red when unplugged from one of the chargers.
Anyone know how 3 Rombas. can not work right or hold a charge or even accept a charge.....Except for the 2015. aftermarket battery???
 
Some types of rechargeable batteries (lithium?) will simply "die" if not charged regularly. Often NOS batteries that have been sitting for a period of time long since have drained and are unable to hold a charge or perhaps at very low levels.

IIRC advice for rechargeable devices is to periodically drain them down, then recharge but do not allow them to remain in charger long after they've been fully powered.

Have two NOS First Alert flashlights that simply will not hold a charge, period. Haven't bothered buying NOS batteries because they haven't been produced in >15 or so years so likely also are dead and won't come back to life.

Best advice is to purchase batteries from sellers guaranteeing *fresh* stock. That is the things will take and hold a charge or your money is refunded.
 
Laundress is right. New old stock batteries can die on the shelf while waiting to be sold and never hold a proper charge again. One possible way around this would be to take your old battery to Batteries Plus and see if they can build a new one for you. Many people don’t realize that they offer this service but they built a new battery for my twenty year old Niterider Nighthawk headlamp and did an outstanding job. It’s well worth a try.

directly from the 1 800 I Robot .call in number that was in the old original owners manual.. jus two days ago via UPS. Opened the box right away I charged it in one of the Discovery Roomba. The othere one ones from Ebay like "Power extra "brand. Prices ranging from $9 to $69.oo.from four sellers
yeah thought about Battery plus..... closest one is about 40 miles away
another rebuilder is like 80 plus miles away...where Hubby got our last SIX Trojans 6 volters...

Doesn't matter which brand you go for these days, they're all tarred with the same brush... and built of solid Chinesium to boot...
