That is NOT the Hotpoint Dishwasher Robyn is looking for

she is looking for the one from about 1957 with the big red starter button and the big dial down in the left corner. She and I were just talking about it the other day....PAT COFFEY

Thanks so much CircleW...

for thinking of me and remembering! That is another reason I just love this group. Everyone is no nice and thoughtful. I wish this were the model I'm looking for as I know Ted and he's such a great guy to work with.
This is the model I'm looking for, in case any newer members hadn't seen my "wish list".

Here is another view of one like I want.

Would like to find one in white but at this point I don't care what color it is so long as it's not all beat up and has it's racks etc. inside.

Note that the racks in the HP dw ride on a single rail. The lower rack hangs from it and the upper rack sits on it. That is why there is the removable center section in the top rack--for loading the lower rack.

I wonder how hot that impeller protector got during dry in the American Kitchens machine since it snapped around the Calrod-type element.

Our KDI 15 had coppertone panels that matched our GE cooktop and oven. This one is beautiful in stainless steel.

Outside shot

I have seen that Hotpoint had a couple of minor detail changes to like the handle during these years but I'm flexible on that so long as it has the lighted dial at the bottom and the reversible rack on top.

Thanks Tomturbomatic...

even though the older Hotpoint models (like Ted's) aren't what I'm looking for, I've always wondered about that rack arrangement and you cleared that up for me. I always thought you had to lug the entire top rack off the bottom one, then set it on a counter to load the bottom. Having that center section lift out would be better than I was thinking. This is such a sweet dishwasher, but I'm kinda stuck for room, and that later model holds such sentimental value for me to have one just like my late Aunt's.
