30 inch Built-in Turquoise GE Pull-Out Dishwasher

In a a recent tour of the mansion and gardens of Filoli in Woodside, California, in the kitchen I noticed this dishwasher. I had never seen this model before and thought some of you would be interested in seeing it. I am sorry that the photo is not better. If you ever go there, take some better photos and post them. I think the interior was pink.

When I was in college down in CT, I used to assist an elderly woman shop for her groceries (used her 66 Cady also, but that's another story) and her kitchen was like walking into a "I love Lucy" set. She had that dishwasher in yellow.

How did that work? Was it troublesome? Could it be bypassed? Also, did the 30" Empress model come as a portable?

Dynasty Dishwasher ...

While in San Francisco we also visited the Filoli House. Many of the rooms in this mansion were used as settings for the series "Dynasty" back in the early 80's. What I doubt they ever showed on TV was the actual kitchen in the home. And in particular, the GE extra-wide (by Aussie standards)...
