Was doing a search on Craigslist recently, and located and purchased a dishwasher I had been looking for for the past 30 years. Had bought one for my mom many years ago when I was still in my early teens, (hated washing dishes for the six in our family) But she was quite happy to see one in the house as well. Used it for over a year, it was a wonderful lil machine. I went to spend the summer with my grandparents, and on my return home, they had taken it to the dump, said that my sister got a shock from it.

Will be heading to California in the next two weeks to pick it up at a friends place, he was kind enough to pick it up from the seller of, and its in his home now awaiting to go home.

Now...here is the teaser. Care to guess what I managed to find?

Clues:

Not made by the major companies.

Built in 1961.

No hidden cycle..its right in front of you.

The instruction manual, installation manual, and advertising flier were all included in the box with the dishwasher.

couple more hints. could be installed in the wall, on counter, or even in a room divider.... makes ya wanna sing with a certain tempo when ya read that in the manual! (should be dead easy now)

YAY!

How did I know you would be the one to guess it Bob :) Nice to see ya Mister!

Yep..Ling Tempco...new in box, and un-used. sat in a basement, original owner never bothered to have it installed, and the new owner of the house has kids, so it would not be enough for their needs. So..voila!

Attached couple of pics that the seller took, friend in Oakland does not have a digital camera. But will post more photos and info on the machine when I get back home with it. Am excited as all get out!!!

Chris baby, go light up a cigar for me in celebration!!!  I cannot wait to see everything about this mysterious machine and it has all the paperwork too.

I loved this machine when I was younger. Would load it up full, shut the door, and watch the wall of water sweep over back and forth. I was real upset when I got home from holidays to find it was gone.
Made up for it soon enough tho, few months after that, they finished the kitchen and upstairs of the house, and I got to pick out the dishwasher, nice new Maytag reverse rack (1983)

LING TEMPCO DISHWASHER

Wow Chris that is quite a find, I have the same one that I found on the side of the road years ago. The door glass was shattered and it had other problems but it is still at our warehouse. Then about 10 years ago a customer gave me the larger model which they had used on thier house boat for many years. I have always been curious about these machines and would love to see one work. Maybe when you post a video of yours working it will inspire me to fix the one I have, Good Luck with yours.

Wow Chris that is such a COOOOOOL find!   New in box no less, ugh. Congratulations, I can want to see pictures of it running!

Just booked my trip down to Oakland for two weeks from today, will be taking video's from the trip down to getting it back home....stay tuned!

awesome!!!

I remember watching one as a kid at the church. Please make some videos for us! That is awesome and if you should find another one let me know, I would love to have one myself. Such a unique design and so fun to watch.

yes, connects like a roll away. it is a gravity drain system water inlet connects to the tap, the drain hose goes into the sink on its own. I will be installing it in the pass thru in my kitchen here in Burnaby, its got more than enough space for it to reside up there till I move back to Vancouver in June or July.
Will be sure to post more photos and video when we get back around the 10th or 11th with it from Oakland. Will be leaving Burnaby early Sunday the 6th, pick up Rich in Yakima, and then on the road south...

more to come...
