Wow - photo closeup

If only people would use their cameras to capture some detail. On the left the Bubble Nebula, just posted by NASA. On the Right - pre-dawn of man photo of the stove..would be nice to see more detail on that panel.

That must be a 1965 model since it's clearly TOL and lacking the oven window.

I also am searching for a 40" GE/Hotpoint in Coppertone for my kitchen. Just wish it was closer or had a way to get it here

Early GE 40" Self-Cleaning Range

This would be about the second 40" SCR that GE offered, 1965 would about on the money, as great as these ranges were the SCOs can be a little difficult to repair if you have problems. The SCO control system is a King-Seely system very similar to the control system on the Sensi-Temp burner.

One of the great things about these early GE SCOs were how well insulated they were, especially with no stupid window, these ovens were easily more energy efficient than any full sized built today by a long shot.

Early GE 40" Self-Cleaning Range

Almost any failure of the oven control system would leave the oven unusable, however there are also things that can fail that would just leave the self-cleaning feature unusable.

It would be possible to replace the control system with a regular hydrolic thromostat and keep the oven baking and broiling without the SCO feature, I have done this on a few early SCOs where the customer did not care about the SC feature. It does require a good degree of knowledge to do a conversion like this however.
