40" GE with P7

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Bob,

You could be right.  By about 1970 the Sweets inserts stopped illustrating the 40" ranges, so I can't pin this down for sure.  They did not resume including the 40" models until about 1977/1978 and by then they had the woodgrain consoles.

GE did include the infinite rotary controls on their upper-line ranges before 1975.  Since this one has two ovens, the P7 feature, and a fluorescent light, it must have ranked near TOL, so it could be late 60's/early 70's.

Revision

I went back and compared consoles on the 30" GE ranges, and I'm now guessing this one is a 1970 model.  This backsplash design first showed  up in 1967, but with the pushbutton controls.  In 1970 the rotary controls showed up, by 1972 this console is no longer shown.  I do not have access to a 1971 catalog.
