Hello to everyone, I'm interested in this GE cooktop to complete my vintage themed all GE kitchen. I guess it's a JP680 from 1980 but what I need to know is if these brownish stains on the surface are removable and what product would be the best for cleaning.

Thank you in advance

I have had a white GE Profile Smooth top since 2005. I use Bon Ami powder on mine. I have tried the smooth top cleaners and none have work well enough for me. I use the Bon Ami with the green Scotch Brite scrubby sponge and never scratched mine yet and always stays white and clean

Thank you Mike. I will buy Bon Ami next time I go to the store

Cleaning a white ceramic electric cooktop

I highly doubt you’ll be able to make much difference in that badly abused GE cooktop, I have never had any luck trying to clean cooktops when they look like that the staining gets burned into the surface. I don’t even think you could grind it off.

The white cooktops went out a favor because they were so hard to keep clean if you stayed after them like JPG does they can be very attractive.
