I had lunch at a former coworker's home yesterday in Menlo Park.
Million dollar condo with golf course view - VERY nice! Built in about 1974.
Saw this Hotpoint oven and thought I'd share with the group here.
It is VERY much like the one that was in my 1967 home except that mine was not self-cleaning as this one is.
Other than that, many of the same features - Meat Minder, Rotagrille (sp?), door switches to turn oven light on, etc.
Upper oven not working, she tells me and she's never used the rotisserie which I ASSUME it has since there is a control knob setting for it. Oddly, the rotisserie "outlet" at the back of the oven has a cover over it which mine did not have - maybe due to the self-cleaning feature?
This is the only appliance in her kitchen from that era - the others have been replaced.
Anyway - enjoy!

Yeah, drool.

and yes, when they innnaduced self-cleaning, they had to provide covers for the rotisserie and the meat thermometer outlets. And they should have told all of us not to leave the racks in for self cleaning; it ruined them for all time.
