older maytag in reply #2

i'm guessing it's a single speed maytag washer. kinda looks like the one that was for sale close to here in phoenix. A407 (i think?) if i remember correctly...

Christina, you are correct. You are learning. Proud of ya. Although it COULD be a 408 too--just a 407 with the golden lower-half panel rather than the blue.

You just confused me.....

Ok...I'm seeing 3 sets of buttons across the console. left to right I'd have thought speeds (regular wash, gentle wash, normal spin, gentle spin), temp. (hot, warm, cold) then water levels (small, medium, large, ex. large).

If this is a single speed machine, then what's the button configuration on that console?

That was the single-speed Fabricmatic selector.  There was only one wash cycle on the timer but the buttons modified it.  The three selections were: regular, permanent press and delicates.  Here's a look at the timer increments for this machine.  Each increment is 1 minute.

So the temp buttons (4 choices) are to the left of the cycle knob, and the cycle buttons are the three group on the right side of the cycle knob? If that's the case that would explain my confusion about this machine.

Closer up

not too much better.

Then, (and sorry if it's a dumb question)...what does the round knob choose, then? Our Maytag has the Regular, Delicate and Permanent Press choices on the round dial.
