54 GE Over Counter Fridge

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hmm, I have a '54 GE range.... but it is white... oh well. I have never seen one of those, wonder what wall depth it requires? I guess the freezer section is the other door. Interesting, thanks for posting that.

Didn't we have...

recently a POD of this? Love it, and talk about rare. Before joining here I never heard of such a thing.

Dan, you have no ida how thrilled I am you are saving this piece of Americana Look forwaerd to the pix of this and the erst of the new house. Bob

Dan....

Are you going to drive down there to get it? That would probably make most sense. Please, PLEASE photograph your mounting/installing activities for us, I think I am in the majority who want to know how those things are bracketed on.

That thing is SO cool.

It's as over the top as that one washer with the sink built into the top (yes I still do want one of those!)

Dan, nice catch! I've got the turqouise version downstairs, unfortunately it's freon-free at the moment.

Also, there is a long steel bracket that goes with this thing and attaches to the wall studs and it's only about 1/2" wide! Make sure you get it otherwise you're sunk. Would love to see installation pics!

It's in my control now ;-)

Only trouble is, the only car I had was my volvo wagon, so it's on its back. I was planning on spending the night here, and heading back to Seattle. Do you think it will damage it? I've moved refrigerators like this before and never had a problem, but this one is unique.

It's Home!

I was so excited I got up early and sped all the way up to Seattle. It's sitting upright in the carport now, getting itself readjusted, and waiting to meet "the other half", who will hopefully think it's as fun as I do

There is a lot of space above the door openings in the refrigerator because the evaporator is raised up so that the water that drips from the coils is able to flow into the evaporation pan at the compressor by gravity. Defrosting the freezer is just a pain, but if you put towels in the bottom of the freezer and then a nice thick layer of them on the counter, you can soak up most of the mess AND then there is a load of laundry to enjoy after the work of defrosting. To compensate for the little freezer, they sold separate 24" wide under counter roll out freezers. Defrosting one of those must have been a real mess.
