Vintage Zenith stereo tv console cabinet, made of beautifully carved wood, with playable record player (33 1/3, 45, 78) on one side and 8-track cassette player on the other. FREE 8-tracks with it! Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Diana Ross, more. Non-working TV
The wood is in mainly good condition except for 2 rings on the top where it appears worn or possibly some water-staining. $300, cash only.

Mmmkay

My Packard Bell has working everything, with beautiful carved wood, ultrasonic remote, fine Corinthian leather, and I paid $90 for it. :-)

Mine didn't come with any awesome 8-tracks, but maybe the water rings add patina.

Hey Nate - I couldn't $150 in this set, with the tv not working and the style being outside my tastes. I remember when that style was pretty common...and even then, I didn't care for it either. Not to splash personal taste over it all - it's harder to find these sets - especially intact and working.

Not to turn this into a "show and tell", do you have a former thread to mention, showing your set or...any photo. $90 was good.

$300????

These behemoths are usually free on CL. Even at no-cost, it had better be on the first floor. Many times we walked away from a repair job on these things. Lack of room in the repair shop, or lack of desire to carry it up and down stairs.

That's a 1962 Magnavox at the latest. They called that cabinet Danish Contemporary. I have the 1962 Danish Modern cabinet, though my controls are different. Perhaps the difference in screen size? Image from tv history.

Phil--

Here's the link to the thread.

The Zenith----NO money shots of the WORKING TT,8 track player,Amps, tuner or the 8 track carts!BUT--we did get to see the NON WORKING TV,and the water rings adding an additional decorator-lived with-used look.Liked the Magnavox!!!Either could serve as stands for your new Flatscreen TV!If the console has aux audio in-play the soundtrack for the new TV thru them! The BIGGEST "soundbar" you can get!Oh yes--we get to see pictures of the "clicker" for the Zenith--Does it work???

Rex,

I did that with my Philco, which I just sold. It was surround sound, had mp3 input, & played CDs/internet radio through the computer. All without modifying the original components. When I get the amp recapped, I plan to do the same to the Maggie.

too much

Sensory overload! I love the Danish modern, contemporary and the American modern looks like it might be nice, as well.

I love your set, Will - excellent styling. It also reminds me of my parent's Zenith, but it's not as "horsey" or huge as it was. It has a nice scale..and the wood is beautiful (what is it, cherry?). I like that you have the flat screen above and then can watch classic tube as well...the way to go!

Every time I see these tv stereo console threads, I start searching for these consoles around CL for something I would like..and there's not much that sits well with me. I think your Magnavox is one of my favorites, though.

Phil

Thanks Phil. It is indeed cherry. With 90% certainty, it belonged to a lady I delivered meals on wheels to. It showed up shortly after she passed at a local thrift and it is the same cabinet. :). I love it, and got rid of my working 1962 Philco console to keep it. :). I look forward to getting the amp and tv recapped, so I can use it more.

Since we are on consoles. Here's my 1965 Zenith I've been working on (TOL). The turntable still stumps me, but the stereo is playing great.[this post was last edited: 7/15/2014-14:18]

You're killing me Will

That's a known best TT that Zenith mounted on the TOL units. To be sure, you are lucky with procuring these stereo consoles and tv stereo consoles. That Zenith has a different TT on it than my dad's unit, which was solid walnut with Danish modern legs.

Man, you sure have some cool stereos.

Thanks. I enjoy my electronic collection. I have 7 vintage TV sets too, including my Maggie stereo....though I need to thin out the herd. Decisions are tough! All Zeniths in order of loading.... 1962, 1959, 1981, 1975 (with matching stereo), 1963, 1969 (space command). What would you let let go of? The 1962 and 1969 aren't working currently (along with the 1962 Maggie), but the rest do.
