I'm wondering if anyone has any brochures, ads or catalogs for Farberware cookware or small electrics that lists the cookware by model number?

I am trying to find out the model numbers for the cookware line, which is being made difficult by the fact that Farberware didn't put the model number on the cookware itself. The letter/number code stamped on the bottoms of Farberware aluminum-clad cookware is a date code put there to verify the manufacturing date for warranty claim purposes. And no, I do not know what codes were used for what years, LOL! That was top-secret info and neither the old Farberware company nor the new owners have released it.

Farberware model numbers were a three-digit number usually beginning in "8," such as "860."

If anyone has any info, I'd be very grateful.

How to date Farberware?

I have several Farberware pieces that I would like to date: stovetop cookware, plus several electric percolators and 2 electric skillets. Some of them were gifted new to me in 1975, others were obtained through estate sales and the like. They are stamped with codes/ numbers, and either made in USA, Bronx, or China.
Is there a date/code guide available? I have been unable to locate anything useful in general web search.
Thank you very much.

Can someone tell me the date of this Farberware -- Thanks

Also, is this safe to use for cooking. Someone gifted it to me so I'm not very familiar with it and google doesn't really help. Thanks

This is one of the older generation Farberware Stainless Steel pots, but I don’t know the exact year, a 12 qt stockpot judging from the marking on the bottom of the pan. The bottom of the pan that goes on the stove top is aluminum for even distribution of the heat, while the interior of the pot is stainless steel and it is perfectly safe for any cooking use.

The main disadvantage of the older generation Farberware pots and pans is that the aluminum bottoms can leave marks on ceramic stovetops, but these marks are easily removed by using either Weimans or Cerma Bryte stovetop cleaner. I have a complete set of the newer Farberware Classic Stainless Steel pots and pans with the sandwiched stainless steel and aluminum bottoms (the aluminum is an inner core to prevent marking ceramic stove tops) that is 24 years old and they are wonderful. Farberware pots and pans are my favorite cookware.

Classic Farberware cookware

This was generally very good cookware, but the bad thing about it was it tends to warp and is not very fast cooking on an electric range if it warps.

The larger pieces, stockpots and skillets are the worst. Smaller pieces usually didn’t warp that badly. On a traditional coil top electric range if more than a quarter of the burner turns red hot when you’re trying to bring water to boil on high, it’s not a good idea to use that item on the stove. Smooth top electric ranges are more forgiving, but again compare the heating speed to a similar size pot with a good flat bottom.

Farberware is perfectly good for gas stoves.

All of my Farberware Classic Stainless Steel pots and pans are over 24 years old and have used daily on both coil top and ceramic electric stoves and not one of them has a warped bottom. But they are all the newer sandwiched bottom models with the exception of the 1.5 qt saucepan with an aluminum bottom that I bought used at a thrift store and it also sits flat on the burner too.

Farberware classic cookware

Hi Eddie, when I use the word classic, I was referring to the old American made stuff. I had forgotten that that is the name of their newer line of Chinese cookware.

The classic Farberware cookware you have is very good cookware. It tends to stay flat most good cookware today has at least three layers, so it does not warp easily, which is a great way to make good cookware.

We never had any Farberware pots or pans, mainly Revere Ware. The only piece that warped was a skillet. My mom said the main reason for cookware warping was either using too hot of heat, or running water in the pan while still hot.
