WOW, well cared for. Love the 1958 knobs like on the laundry appliances. It even has the meat thermometer, must be an RI-39-58.

I'm not sure about the double doors, which need space -prefer the more traditional ...BUT it's a beauty in such good condition! NICE!

This is a 30-inch range, which would make each door about 15 inches wide. That means each would extend out 15 inches from the range at the most when fully open.
On a bottom-hinged, single-door 30-inch range, the door is usually something like 20 inches high, meaning that it extends out that much from the range when fully open.
Am I missing something here? Enquiring minds want to know!

There are two modes of thought that are probably unique to what I'm looking for...
1) I like a simple door action, just one movement, not two ..it's not that I couldn't deal with it, but I like the single hinge, single door. For appearance, I'll contradict myself and say, it's kind of novel-cool.
2) In the space I would need to put something like this, the right door opening would interfere with lane traffic, as the oven is located in a place where the doors would stick out where an entranceway exists. (tight quarters)..
I'm thinking of a house that we'll have in the future, and stove ideas...for a smallish galley kitchen. I think remodel is in order...
overall, I like the single door, single movement to enter and exit the oven more.
But it's a BEAUTY all the above aside.

I'm not nearly so well-versed on Frigidaires as I am GEs, but I think those French doors are rigged so that when you open one, they both open, like the "magic" doors to the parlor at Monticello. Someone here will, of course, correct me if I'm wrong.
But I can definitely see how they wouldn't work for every kitchen layout.

I'd sure like to hear if that's true - that would be a plus.
We'll probably reconfigure and remodel the kitchen - who knows, it's down the road, but it's fun to dream, right?

Both doors open together and they do take less space than regular doors just like doors on a side x side fridge.

PhilR - interesting and very cool. So with one hand, both doors open at same time -and easily?
Not sure about the '58, but earlier models of the French Door range had the doors connected to the lower oven shelf via linkage so that when the doors were opened, the shelf glided out. The shelf was on a roller bearing track. I have only had experience with the wall oven French Doors and they were very smooth in operation. You only needed to pull one handle to open both doors. Frigidaire used to advertise that the FDs were great for tight spaces because they gave the cook more space in which to work in front of the open oven.
